about

Taking into consideration the wondrous amount of phenomena our environment displays from each angle no matter what the increment of time and space, there are moments that surpass the ordinary. "High Magnitude" contains material programmed between 2004-2008, during the same time when QUETZATL albums "Meta Tek", "Reporting From Earth", "On the Edge of Dopeness" and "Gamutumag" were being developed and constructed and serves as a sequel to previous QUETZATL albums, "Chilam Balam", "Movement & Measure" & "The Next Step". Heavily influenced by my ever evolving approach to live original performance in relation to studio production and what moves me about the world all around. This albums marks a distinct transition from hardware based programming techniques to software based emulation and synthesis. Early on, "High Magnitude" consisted of many genres, though I discovered concentrating it on my drum & bass tempo compositions felt the most natural thing to do. The tracks which could be stereotyped as other genres would make their way into the other albums listed above. It was around this time that I began to drift from drum & bass tempo live original performances, which had been my focus for several consecutive years and delve even deeper into uncharted terrain. Several songs on this album were available previously in the "Junk DNA" collection and a number of other drum & bass themed tracks programmed around the same time as the tracks on this album are included on projects such as "Blend Upz" & "Cultivating the Real 功夫" and official QUETZATL albums, "Meta Tek", "Reporting From Earth", "On the Edge of Dopeness" and "Gamutumag". The compositions included in "High Magnitude" would lead the way for songs "Autonomous Robots" and "Synchronicity", featured on "Drumstep Command Force". At the time I was programming the material that would come together to be this album, I did not quite realize the shape and theme it would take as an organized piece, a concept album, probing the mysteries of the place we call The Garden.
